Lesson blurb
When we are writing a family history or biography or other piece of prose, it's important to remember that every famous author has access to the same words and same sentence structures that we have access to. They're famous partly because they've worked out how to use their words and sentence structures to maximum effect. Thus, the easiest way to empower our prose and engage our readers is to improve our prose at the basic word level.
The Words, Words, Words course focuses on the "parts of speech" of the English language. It comprises ten lessons that explore nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and all of the remaining parts of speech.
Let acclaimed author and genealogist Carol Baxter show you how a simple word change — for example, a single verb change — can empower your prose and engage your readers.
This course comprises ten lessons, as follows:
01 Words Words Words
02 The Verve in our Verbs
03 Adding Oomph to our Genealogy Writing
04 Passive Power
05 All that other Verb Stuff
06 Adventuring with Adverbs
07 Our Noble Nouns
08 All that other Noun Stuff
09 The Objective of Our Adjectives
10 And Everything Else ...
